Planning Permission & Biodiversity Net Gain

Rocket works with homeowners and architects to deliver landscaping plans in line with planning permission requirements. We are also able to support clients in meeting Biodiversity Net Gain requirements for new development projects.

Planning permission

Rocket works with architects and clients to deliver hard and soft landscaping recommendations, specification plans and maintenance schedules in line with planning permission requirements.

Further down the line, detailed landscape and garden design plans with accompanying planting schedules can complete a renovation, extension or new build project.

Biodiversity Net gain

What is Biodiversity Net Gain? New UK legislation has introduced a minimum of 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) as a mandatory condition for new development projects. This means that all new building projects must achieve a 10% net gain in biodiversity or habitat. The BNG approach is set to improve biodiversity across the country, in response to the significant decline of UK wildlife and habitats through recent decades.

As a result of the legislation, BNG is now a key part of the majority of planning applications and Rocket is pleased to be able to support this goal.

In line with the April 2024 requirements for small sites, Rocket has begun working with the small site metric (SSM) - an official tool which measures biodiversity as part of BNG. Competent site BNG assessment using the tool informs the required reports and recommendations to be approved by the Local Authority before development begins.

Please get in touch to discuss BNG and for support on the compulsory Biodiversity Net Gain plan for your development project.
